Drake Takes Madonna’s Title as Artist With Most Top 10 Hits of All Time

Drake just became the artist with the most top 10 songs in the history of the Billboard Hot 100. The rapper had recently tied with Madonna for the coveted spot, but thanks to his newest collaborations with long-time associate DJ Kahled, Drake has pulled ahead. And upcoming releases suggest that he’s just getting started.

Drake Takes First Place

Drake’s two newest hits broke his tie with Madonna, who established the record in 2002. Back then, the pop icon had ousted The Beatles for the spot with her James Bond ballad, “Die Another Day.” But just a few months ago, Drake managed to tie with Madonna. On May 16, Drake’s single “Pain 1993,” featuring Playboi Carti, reach number 7 on the charts.

Now, Drake’s songs “Popstar” and “Greece” have broken that record. “Popstar” is currently sitting at No. 3 and “Greece” is at No. 8. As of July 27th, “Popstar” had garnered more than 24 million streams while “Greece” had 18.8 million.

The Rapper’s Road to No.1

Drake first broke into the top 10 chart in 2009 with “Best I Ever Had.” His performance in the charts has been exponential since then. In the last 11 years, he’s managed to get a hit in the top 10 almost every single year. Moreover, in many of those years he’s been able to get multiple singles up the chart at once. And this year, he’s had 5 songs reach top 10 status.

On The Up And Up

Drake’s two-song lead is only bound to get bigger. Drake has announced that he’ll drop his sixth studio album sometime this summer. It’s rumored that the release date will be Friday, August 14th. There are likely to be more than one top 10 hits on this album, which will put him far above the competition. It seems we still haven’t seen the height of Drake’s career.
